The STOP Violence Against Women Grant was awarded to the State of Texas by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Office on Violence Against Women to assist in developing and strengthening law enforcement and prosecuting strategies to combat violent crimes against women and to develop and strengthen victim services.
The Statewide Conference on Violence Against Women is a training event for 175 total law enforcement personnel with an emphasis on selecting participants from rural Texas agencies, agencies with financial need for training, and areas where a fatality occurred due to domestic/family violence. The conference will cover some of the basic dynamics on crimes against women as well as provide in-depth training on special topics such as human trafficking, stalking, interviewing and interrogating sex offenders, and much more. The conference will offer participants access to valuable violence against women training by top experts in the field, and also provide indispensable networking opportunities among fellow law enforcement professionals and field experts.
