    ABOUT THE PROGRAM

    The Sexual Assault Family Violence Investigators Course (SAFVIC) is designed to provide law enforcement officers around the state with the tools they need to effectively investigate and prevent sexual assault and family violence. SAFVIC is funded by a grant from the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor and the National Violence Against Women Office. This program was originally developed by a statewide steering committee composed of representatives from law enforcement, prosecution and victim services. The SAFVIC program uses a network of certified trainers to deliver the training on a local basis, thus enabling more officers the access to this very important training.

     

    TCLEOSE Credit

    Officers and/or telecommunication professionals attending and successfully completing the 24-hour SAFVIC, 40-hour instructor course, any of the SAFVIC Modules, or SAFVIC for TCPs will receive credit hours from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) as follows:

    SAFVIC 3-day (TCLEOSE Course 3264) - 24 credit hours
    SAFVIC Instructor Course (TCLEOSE Course 3265) - 40 credit hours
    SAFVIC Module 1 (TCLEOSE Course 3261) - 8 credit hours
    SAFVIC Module 2 (TCLEOSE Course 3262) - 8 credit hours
    SAFVIC Module 3 (TCLEOSE Course 3263) - 8 credit hours
    SAFVIC for TCPs (TCLEOSE Course 3267) - 8 credit hours

    SAFVIC courses 3264 and 3265 are designed to satisfy the requirements of Special Investigative Topics (3232) and successful students will be eligible for a TCLEOSE special investigator proficiency certificate.   Click here to visit the TCLEOSE website to download the SIPC - Special Investigator Proficiency Certificate Application. Although you do not have to complete the modules in any specific order, you must complete all three modules to satisfy the requirements of Special Investigative Topics.
